N-Fix NV is looking for partners

    I. Introduction

N-Fix NV is a start-up (SME) that has developed a cost-effective manufacturing platform to cultivate micro-organisms directly on a bio’waste’-based carrier. The technology provides a cost-effective and scalable alternative to precision fermentation. In addition, the carrier provides technical benefits such as improved microbial shelf-life and survival in use.

Their biorefinery effectively creates a new value chain in which agricultural or food industry residues can be upgraded to valuable biofertilizers, making crop cultivation more sustainable by reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers. Although N-Fix’s primary focus is the manufacturing of microbial products for use in agriculture (biofertilizers, biostimulants and biocontrols), the technology is also applicable to other non-food industries such as construction, bioremediation and anaerobic digestion.

    II. Looking for

    1. Partners with access to low or negative value biomass (ideally >10kTon/y)

    2. Academia and companies developing microbial products looking for manufacturing partners

    3. Food (or other bio-based) industry looking to reduce scope 3 emissions in their supply chain, by improve the sustainability of their feedstocks

    III. Skills and expertise offered

    1. Valorisation of biomass (manure, agricultural, food industry, …) feasibility study

    2. R&D Manufacturing and formulation of specific micro-organisms (fungi and bacteria)

    3. Bio-assays on microbial product shelf life, resilience and performance in greenhouse

    4. Process techno-economic (risk) assessment

    5. Production of pilot scale batches of formulated micro-organisms
